Protect a PDF Catalogue and Use a Custom Domain
Protect access to the Foliade reader with a password and customise its address with a subdomain or your own domain. Learn how these settings work and where their limits apply.
Password-protect the reader
In the access settings under Appearance, choose Protected, set a password and save. Then open the link in a private browser window to check the access screen. This protection is available on the free plan and controls the hosted reader. It does not encrypt the downloaded PDF or an HTML export’s files.
Choose a subdomain
From Pro, choose a Foliade subdomain to give the catalogue a more recognisable address. Check availability, then open the saved address. One address can point to only one publication at a time. Addresses saved under Settings, then Brand, can be reused when configuring a catalogue or shelf.
Connect a domain with a CNAME record
With Business, enter your domain and create the CNAME record shown by Foliade at your DNS provider. Wait for propagation and HTTPS validation before sharing the new address. Also check the password if the catalogue is protected. Use the destination shown in the settings rather than inventing a server address.
