Foliade guide Customise
Add clickable links and videos to an online PDF
Add clickable links, videos and buttons to the web version of your PDF. This tutorial covers the Foliade editor, private preview and publishing your changes.
Add a clickable link to a page
In the Enrich tab, open the page you want to edit, choose Link and draw an area on the preview. Enter its destination: a catalogue page, web address or email. Add a clear label, such as View product dimensions, then check that the area covers the item readers should click.
Embed a YouTube or Vimeo video
Choose Video, paste the media’s YouTube or Vimeo address and position it on the page. Test it in the preview, including on a phone. Third-party media in the catalogue loads on click after consent. Uploaded MP4 files, audio and web content require Pro; forms placed on a page area require Business.
Preview and publish interactive elements
Your draft saves automatically, but readers still see the last publication. Check destinations, labels and touch targets before selecting Publish changes and confirming. These additions enhance the web reader; they are not inserted into the PDF file that readers download.
Text summary of the video
- The Enrich tab adds interactive elements on top of your pages. The preview is the working scene: you keep turning pages while you edit.
- The library offers thirteen types: links, linked text, images, videos, audio, buttons, pop-ups, web embeds, forms, product tags, galleries, guided tours and quick questions.
- Pick Link and draw a zone on the page. The inspector opens: choose what a click does — go to a page, open a web address, write an email, or zoom on the zone.
- Style the zone: invisible, outline, pulse, halo, a numbered marker or a label. Add an entrance animation, and a label for accessibility.
- Add a video by pasting a YouTube or Vimeo link. It loads only when the reader clicks, after a consent notice. Buttons, images and pop-ups work the same way.
- Your draft is saved automatically, with undo and redo. Nothing goes live until you click Publish changes and confirm.
Key points
- Coordinates are expressed as a percentage of the page: they survive a PDF replacement.
- Audio, web embeds and uploaded MP4 videos require the Pro plan; forms on a zone and product tags, the Business plan.
- An element without a label gets the name of its type; give it a real label, it is used by screen readers and statistics.
